Christmas Fun

Now that the dress is finished the fun begins for Christmas gifts and decorating.

This week I've cut out three quilts that are throw size. I'm using Christmas fabric.
A few years ago I was given a box of Christmas fabric and I was a little stumped as to what to do with it. So I came up with the plan to make all my siblings and my husbands siblings a quilt, using this fabric.
I've made three quilts so far, 2 last year and one the year before. This year I'm making 3 of them, which will go to a friend and 2 siblings.

I've gotten one too sewn together so far.
Here's a picture...

I've got the others cut out and ready to go. This year I'm using the same pattern for all of them.
Last year I used a carpenter wheel pattern and a tumbler block pattern.
I really enjoy quick and easy quilts. They are so gratifying to make.

Happy sewing!!

Serger catastrophe.....ahhh

While sewing the little white dress for my daughter last week my overlock machine decided to have a melt down so to speak.
I was sewing along without any problems and then forgot all about the beads on the ribbon of the dress. Needless to say, my needle broke and then the fit ensued from there.
I changed the needle with a new one and rethreaded the machine and thought cool now I can get back to it and finish sewing the dress.
Well to my disappointment it was not that easy... the tension was off, the cutter position was off, the thread kept breaking, I kept rethreading, the stitches were skipping... and on and on. What a mess!!!
I spent three days working on getting everything back on track. I put two different NEW needles in. I rethreaded and fixed the tension, but it is still skipping stitches. So now I am thinking that maybe the timing is off.
I watched every YouTube video I could on how to fix all these problems. Its been a real big headache.
I have learned a lot about my machine in the process which is good and will be super helpful in the future.
This machine has been super awesome for the past 13 years, I've never had a problem with it. Normally I rethread it and fix the tension and it hums along with perfect stiches. But this is the first time in all those years that I've broken a needle.
I've gotten it to work with just 3 threads so I may just finish the dress with the 3 instead of the 4 threads. The machine can do either. Or I may just leave all the seems on the dress unfinished but the fabric frays like crazy so I'm not in love with that idea.
Well I post pictures of the finished dress when its complete.
Hope no one else has overlock machine problems, but if you do there are great videos on YouTube that are very helpful.

Happy Sewing!!

Ribbon Star
(RIBBON STAR PATTERN by Missouri Star Quilt Co.)

Featuring the Anne of Green Gables fabrics by Riley Blake.
Fabric is currently available to purchase in the store.

The purples and greens are so nice together.

Mom and Aunt Barb have been making the same quilts, using the same pattern but different fabrics this past year.
This Ribbon Star quilt was one of their picks.
Didn't it turn out so nice!!
I just love how the fabrics stand out and move across the quilt.
I think Anne of Green Gables is such a classic movie. It is fun to see some fabrics that showcase the flowers and beauty from the show.

So if you are looking for a purple and green bundle of fabric this is it. Hop on over and get yours and have some fun putting your own spin on it.
Or you can get this pattern for the Ribbon Star and make the same quilt with a little variation.

Happy sewing!!

Check out this Christmas fabric!!!!
It's called Christmas Adventure.
Oh it is so adorable and fun. It's got a camp trailer and all the Christmas Bling on it. It will make such a nice quilt for a cabin or just for snuggling on the couch watching all those wonderful holiday shows.
Right now it is available in the store so hop on over to Inchwormfabrics and grab a bundle and have some fun sewing.
I can't wait to get my Christmas quilts done this year. I've started making Christmas quilts for my siblings and my siblings-in-law for Christmas (spoiler alert...now they know what's coming in the mail this Christmas)…oops.
Well it has been fun to make these quilts. They are not fancy or complicated, just simple patterns that can be put together in a weekend. When they are done they sure are nice and cozy. I love making simple easy quilts, they are fun and relaxing to make.

'Til next time.
Happy sewing

Little white dresses..

Daughter #2 here with an update on the fun project I'm working on. My daughter just turned 8. I'm making her a white dress for church. So far I've got the front panels and back panels sewn together. I did a fitting on her before sewing the side seams. It's a good thing I did, she is a skinny little thing and so I take in the sides as I see those seems.
I bought some embleshments for the dress.
Here is a peek at the progress so far....
I have it on a dress form that is meant for women sizes but it still gives you an idea of what it looks like so far. It has a high/low hem, there will be sleeves and a ribbon that ties in the back. It will also need to be lined, the fabric is a little to thin.

Have a wonderful day. Happy sewing. 🧡

The time Changed

November is upon us and the time change draws the line for the change in the season

I didn't think October would be so busy but it seems that there was a ton of little things that needed to be done to get ready for the cold stormy winter before us.

One weekend Daughter #4 left her four kids while they attended a funeral. The twin boys age 14 mowed the pasture for us, yea one less thing for me to do, and the girls 12 and 10 did a little sewing with me trying to supervise both activities.  The 12 year old made a dress for her stuffed rabbit, she did all of it except the collar and I helped her with that,  and the 10 year old got one cut out, her attention span isn't quite as long.

Another weekend Daughter #2 brought a load of apples and we did 90-1/2 gallons of apple juice. I was so tired but it was good to get it done and it sure beats store bought apple juice by a mile.

Another weekend my husband and I moved the wood pile from the pasture to under the barn so that it would be out of the weather and we would have dry wood for the winter. We just used the loader and dumped it in there and planned on stacking it later. One of the son in laws stacked it for us, yea one more thing I don't have to do.

I am so excited, I got the coolest iron, I told my husband it was a present from him for our anniversary coming up.  πŸ˜‰ (Hey, he is good with that, saves him from having to think of something. So I did him a favor😁) It is a cordless Panasonic 360 and it is teal of course(they have other colors blue, red, champagne, rose gold). Barb of Bejeweled quilts and I have been on a teal kick for our sewing room accessories. My old iron was a Rowenta and I loved it but you can see from the picture that it is well used. I took a picture of the side of the box so you could see all the features. I was able to purchase it through one of my wholesalers and can order one for anyone that is interested, they are on sale.

Joining the inchworm team....

Happy November!
Wow has the year flown by or what. Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner. The holidays are so fun and full of joy and lots of things. It's such a great time of year.

Well some inchworm fabric news....I (Christine) Daughter #2 will be joining the inchworm fabrics team. I'll be helping mom out with keeping you all up to date on the wonderful things happening in our neck of the woods.

We just got in a brand new sewing machine. The EVER SEWN 30. It's wonderful. It is a quiet machine with over 300 different stitches. It is a teal green color, which is such a happy color. As you all may know my mom and her sister Barb are all about Teal green right now so this little guy fits right in.πŸ˜‰

It comes with the table attachment, a dust cover is included, along with 7 different feet.

It is a super fun machine to use. There is a needle threader, a thread cutter. Lots of embroidery stiches. It comes with a walking foot (not shown above). I've been having so much fun sewing on this new machine.
So if you are in the market for a new machine that is an all purpose machine this may be the one for you. The EVER SEWN 30. It's such an easy machine to use and you can program your favorite stitches.
I am not only a quilter but I enjoy sewing apparel, so this machine fits my needs perfectly because I can do both, which makes me happy. πŸ˜ƒ

I'm looking forward to showing you all the fun things I get to sew on the little beauty. I'm also excited to be working more with my mom and her store. I always love seeing the new fabric, patterns, and other goodies that come in.

Well I better get to sewing!!
Have a beautiful fall day where ever you may be today.

Happy sewing Y'all!!
