Still sewing blocks

I haven't posted in a while, but I have still been sewing farm girl blocks. In the last few weeks, these are the ones I have sewn:

I just noticed that I forgot to embroider the baby chicks legs and eyes on. Funny the things you don't notice until you take a picture.

Island Batik Mini Madness

I have had this half hexie ruler from Missouri Star Quilt Company and have wanted to give it a try but didn't want to commit to a big quilt in case I didn't enjoy the piecing. I have to say it was the easy way to go doing hexies. I loved it and think I may venture onto something larger latter. I just designed the pattern on graph paper, but cut the hexies and then arranged them a couple of different ways and settled on a traditional design in the end.

I just stitched in the ditch for the quilting but it would lend itself to something a little more creative.

I had scheduled this to post Monday but I am guessing I didn't do it right.

Giveway winner

The winners of my giveaway are Linda and Shauna. I sent them an email to let me know their address. My rafflecopter (aka Barb of Bejeweled picked two numbers for me one for each post) So Congrats to the winner. Also they need to let me know which colorway they would like. There is the blue one (which looks green but is really a blue, the red one and the yellow/green/brown one). Plus I am adding an Island Batik mini roll. Don't they look yummy.

I did do a little quilting on NQDay but the day was so nice I actually spent time out side getting the garden spot cleaned and ready to go so that we would be able to get an early start this year. Last year with the move and all it was a pretty pathetic lousy excuse for a garden.  Hope everyone had a wonderful day and enjoyed what ever they did. I love gardening almost as much as quilting. ;)

Thank you for entering the giveaway and stop often, I will be having more giveaways this year than last and lots of batik fun with Island Batiks.

Giveaway and Mini Madness Island Batiks

I am going to use Tuscany Sun for my March Mini Madness. The ones on the left are the discards and the ones on the right are going to be my project. You can barely see my project design on the right and my template on top of it. I laid it all out and numbered them but now I am not sure that is the layout I want. Sometimes I just have to let an idea roll around for a few days before I do it.
The fabric rolls below are going to be part of my Giveaway for March 19th National Quilting Day. I am giving away a fat quarter bundle of Calico Days from Riley Blake. I am thinking I may give away a surprise box to a second winner which will include some Island Batiks like the ones in the picture. So leave a comment you don't want to miss out.

Canning Jars

Here are my canning jar blocks as promised yesterday.
My girls chose the scraps I used. I had to laugh, the fabrics pretty much match what I find them putting in my real canning jars at home. I find them filled with all kinds of dirt, flowers, and things they find outside.

Autumn Star

I am a little behind on my farm girl blocks. I had family in town for a visit so my project got put aside for the week. But I did manage to get the Autumn Star block sewn, and the canning jars blocks cut out. Here is a picture of the Autumn Star blocks.

You will have to stay tuned for the canning jar blocks. I plan to get back to sewing this week.

Don't forget to comment on the previous post about which blocks you liked of mine or blocks you like from the Farm Girl Vintage book for the giveaway that mom is having this month. She will be giving away a fat quarter bundle from Riley Blake of Lori Holt's Calico Days fabric line.

I originally was going to use the Calico Days fabric I have for these blocks, but I decided they were too pretty to cut into...my blocks have been made using up scraps. I plan on hording my Calico Days fabric a little longer before I decide how I want to use it. Less scraps...more stash...my version of spring cleaning!

March Craft month giveaway

Well it is here. March Craft Month

I think it is great to celebrate but I think every month is craft month for me especially if it involves buying more fabric. I got the best surprise in the mail today. My fabric from Island Batik, I guess that makes it official. I am now an Ambassador, yea. Oh the fun that will be had with all those little lovelies. I have been sewing a little. In case you hadn't seen my earlier post. I have these antique blocks I am putting together for my four daughters. I want each to be unique. I have two tops done and then I will have to decide how to quilt them. Any suggestions?

Here are pictures of 2 of my sunbonnet lady quilts. 2 more to go.

I am going to have a give away in honor of Craft month. It will be a fat quarter bundle of Calico Days from Riley Blake that Beverly has been using to make her Farm Girl blocks. Just leave a comment about one of her blocks that you like. She will be posting off and on till she gets enough blocks for 2 quilts for her girls. I am not sure when I will pick a winner but it will be some time this month.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by.
