Time flys

I have been away way to long, everything has changed and I am not sure I like the new look of Blogger. Whats my excuse, well I could say I have been gone, or the weather is to nice to be on the computer, or I have been busy finishing projects. I guess any excuse is as good as another one.
New Fabric has arrived.Very pretty pink and brown fabric. Indian Summer by Riley Blake.I don't know how the weather is in your neck of the woods but Washington is having unseasonally warm weather. It has been in the 80's. So it feels like an Indian 'Spring'.

Ruler and Mat Tote with Iron pad

Do you ever have a project that you want to really really finish no matter how tired you are? Well this is one of those projects. I am so tired I shouldn't be working on a project at all. I have had to rip out the zipper to many times to count. I wanted a tote that I could put my cutting mat and rulers in that also had an ironing pad on one side. So searched the web over and found nothing. I had to design it myself. Then I had to put it together and figure out the best order to sew it in. Here's the results, hope you like it as well as I do. Don't look to close, my machine didn't like all that bulk and the seams are not as nice as they should be. Let me know what you think, and you can be honest. Thanks.

Granddaughter Quilt

Well, I haven't been completely lazy this week. I quilted this quilt that my daughter pieced for daughter who turned 8 last Sunday. She designed this herself. I guess you could call it a design as you go quilt. She keep adding to it till she was satisfied with the way it looks. Don't you think it turned out really cute? I do.

I want to make a cutting mat, ruler and ironing tote that I can take to classes and quilt club meetings. I guess I could just buy one of those commercial ones but what fun is that. I have some cute teal and brown quilted paisley just calling my name. I can't find a pattern I like so I am going to make one up and if it works, I will share.

The sun is shining here and it feels so good. I love spring. I can't wait till my flowers start to bloom. Have a great Saturday.

Book Review- Square-agonals by Sandi Blackwell

Wow! Diagonal set quilts with no cutting of setting triangles, and no math. It’s simple, it’s easy, it’s “Square-agonals™”! Sandi Blackwell has created a new word, a unique technique, and new projects!
No math, no triangle cutting, no problem!
Here’s what Sandi’s students have to say about Square-agonals:

• “An A-MAZE-ING new method for setting diagonally pieced quilts...because it is like a maze until it is cut - then it is amazing when everything is put together - it all fits!”
• “A new and easy way to sew diagonal designs without the hassle of cutting the perfect triangle or using math calculations.”
• “The technique is very elegantly simple and so easy.”
• “Easy...no worry about diagonals, triangles, and corners, will work on any size.”
• “Makes on-point settings easy.”

This is a table runner my daughter did over the weekend.

And this is the same design in darker shades.

And this has both put together for a reversible table runner.

It was fast and easy. The blocks are first sewen and then some strategic cuts are made and like magic the design appears. If you haven't seen this book, you should look it up and give it a try. Well worth the effort.

What did you do this weekend?

What do you do when it rains? I sew but this weekend I was fixing baseball pants. The elastic was to large in 30 pairs of girls softball pants and I said yes when asked if I would fix them. What was I thinking? After doing 29 with one left to do, I am pretty sure I wasn't thinking. Slap me next time.

I have this quilt loaded on the frame and should have been doing it. It is for my grand daughter who turned 8 today. Happy Birthday Adrienne!!!!!!!!!!

There is still daylight left, time to quilt. Have a great weekend.
