Pink Ombre!!!

I finished!! Just in time for Valentine's!! Here is a picture of my finished baby quilt using the Riley Blake pink ombre fabric.

Okay, so it is not quite a Valentine's project, but it is PINK!!! And it turned out pretty darn cute!!
Now it will be wrapped up and shipped to my favorite quilter...so that she can work her magic.

In the meantime, there are a few more pieces of ombre fabric in blue, green, and yellow sitting by my machine begging me to make something with them. Oh the decisions and possibilities... But for now, I think I will dance around my kitchen and clean up my sewing mess in celebration!!

If you need a few pieces of ombre to entertain you creative side, stop in at the store...

Nine Patch Heart Block

You can find this block and the free instructions at McCalls Quilting. A few years ago I made a number of these for mug rugs.

A day without quilting is like a day without sunshine. No quilting at this house, no sunshine either, I have been busy babysitting 3 kids while my daughter was having her 3rd. I am home for the evening and for Sunday while her husband is there to take care of them and I will go back for a couple of days to help out. Just needed to sleep in my own bed tonight.  I took pictures but I am not exactly sure how to download the pictures off my phone. I guess I need to figure it out before I get to many and lose all of them.

Valentine and loom

I made the valentine block for the city quilt group but they choose a different one to do for next month. I thought it was cute and so easy to do. I just sewed strips together and then cut four blocks, added two small squares to the corner of two blocks cut, and did one large square of background on the other two and cut it in half. Sewed the four blocks together and put a border around and ta dah, there you have the quick explanation.

Look at what I just got this last month. I am so excited to learn how to weave. It is old but still in really good shape. I have been reading books and watching you tube videos. I think I am almost ready to take the plunge. I cleaned it up and cut the old project that was on it off. I should take a picture of the clean loom. Did I say I was excited?

New Baby's Quilt

I am so far behind. The baby was born in November and I am just now finishing the quilt. I want to get it loaded on the frame and quilted this week. I bought a fat quarter bundle of "Today is your day" by Dr. Suess. Well when I got to putting it together I was going to end up with a twin size quilt so I left off a block on each row and a whole row. That's what I get for now following a pattern. I started out with one but didn't like it so I changed things up and did it my way. I guess you can tell the baby was a girl. Well I bought a boy color way also because another daughter is due any day. I think I will scale back the quilt before I get to construction so I don't have to do so much work.

Christmas Projects now that it is okay to share them!!!

I limited myself on sewing project this year-- really did not want to be staying up late sewing or quilting. My sister and I made this table runner for Jeanette (Mom) and she has hung it on her wall at work. She said she loved it :) I think the quilting could have been a little better. The embroidery was perfect. Bev does a fabulous job!!

You can still see some purple from the marking pen... I went crazy with it trying to figure out how to quilt it and for once it didn't fade by the next day like it usually does when I don't want it too. The pattern is from birdbraindesign called snow happens

I made a couple of these folded stars-- ran out of time to make more.

Spent way too much time trying to get this top done... still not done. This is a sad tale. My mother sent me some Christmas flannel fabric fat quarter bundle for my birthday last year and I saw this pattern in American Patchwork and Quilting Dec 2013 issue on page 92 (please don't go and look--- it makes this top look sad). I thought it would be perfect too make this scrappy. The sad part is it was working out fine until I cut the light green fabric wrong.... sad day for me. I can not find more of this material so I had to improvise and sort and move and sort and lay it out. Then it got moved so I could finish Megan's Jean quilt... (which for some reason I don't have a picture of it... good thing it's at our house.. I will post a picture next time....) and then I had to re-sort and lay it out.. and lots of unpicking...... I hate this quilt at this moment... and it still needs borders and quilted....... I asked many times-- "Where is my mother? I wish she was here to fix it for me." I had to be a big girl and fix it myself..... does anyone want an unfinished quilt top?

January Block of the Month

The city quilters do a block a month and for this month we are doing the Jar Block. Very easy and so cute depending on what you put in the jar. Sorry my balance is off and I didn't take a very good picture. My jar has thread and thimbles in it. Barb my sister from Bejeweled Quilts said she found a whole bunch of thimbles while cleaning at her new home. I would love to see them but these will have to do for now. If you want to make the block here is the link to the instructions founds at AZPactch block of the month 2003 March. That website has tons of blocks in case you are looking for something and the instructions are pretty good.
Just a reminder Inchworm store is having a book sale and most of the books are $10 or less, so don't miss out.

Well have a great rest of the week. I am back to work tomorrow but it was nice to have today off. Happy New Year.
