This is a project my youngest daughter and I did for a friend having a baby. A quilt and a bag to match. My daughter pieced the cute quilt and I did the quilting and the bag. Such a fun project and the young mother loved it.

New Pattern Giveaway

Oklahoma Twister Pattern

I designed this pattern a  few years ago and I made the one I showed on the last blog. I gave the pattern to a friend and her mother made the one above and I think they liked it so much that they have made like 3 more. It is such a simple each quilt and fun to do. I really didn't think that it was a fancy enough quilt to sell the pattern. But, Sew Cal Gal recommended that I do the pattern up and sell it so I am launching the pattern today with a giveaway. Its Mothers Day tomorrow and what better way to celebrate than a giveaway.;) You can also buy it from Inchwormfabrics.com .

Just leave a comment about what style of quilting you like most.

I know I prefer piecing. I never seem to get my applique to look very professional (my OCD shows through, if it isn't perfect it is awful) and I don't even want to go there.  Paper piecing puts me in a foul mood (trust me, you don't want to be around) because I skimp to much on the fabric (really hate to waste good fabric) and end up having to take it out again and again. I love piecing, when the corners and points turn out nice it makes it worth all the effort. You know the feeling when every thing comes together.....yes it is a good feeling.

Tell your friends, the more people the merrier and I may give away more than one pattern. Barb over at Bejeweled Quilts is also giving away a copy of this pattern.....OOPS almost forgot to tell you when I am choosing a winner. How about next Saturday? Oversized Star Baby Blankets

Since these turned out so fun, I thought I would share.

 

Now, I know most of you have probably already seen these, but I somehow just managed to run across a tutorial by Palak over at Make It Handmade for these Big Star Baby Blankets that she wrote up last year...

And since I have been on a baby quilt kick(yes it is all about instant gratification right now...) I had to try it. Let's just say that they were super fast, and fun to make. My friend and I whipped the two tops pictured above up in about 40 minutes or so. (Probably would have taken us less time...but we like to chat.) And I know they aren't finished yet, but I am working up the courage to try and quilt them on my sewing machine. A first attempt...so if it doesn't go well, my favorite quilter might find them in the mail.

Also, the whole oversized quilt block bug has bitten....I am currently digging up my favorite block patterns to scale up so I can make some more of these quick baby quilts in a few different designs. Yes, I might have a fever...it was a big bug!!!

Tricities Quilt Show

Tricities Washington on Saturday.

Two of my girls and I went to this quilt show. I forgot my camera. Then remembered I have a phone that takes pictures. I go to take pictures and it says that I dont have enough room, what luck right, well they had nice comfy couches, so I sat down and proceeded to delete pictures from 2 trips that I took (didn't delete the grandkids). I then had enough room to take pictures. I guess you can see where my priorities are ;) I took more than I have loaded and took more than I got saved (I would forget to press the save button, learning curve, give an old lady a little slack). Some are close ups where I tried to get the quilting detail or the block design. We had fun and walked till our feet hurt and our bellly's were grumbling from hunger. Then we went to lunch at 2, thought we would go to Red Robin and it was packed to the gills with a long wait. We were famished, so we went across the road to Quiznos, no wait there, enjoyed it just the same. I hope you enjoy the beautiful designs and forgive my shaky hands.

Dresses!!

So, I finished the dresses I was making for the girls!! And as requested....Here is a picture of them together. (Thanks for all the wonderful encouragement!!!)

 

Sorry the picture is a little dark...It was sunny this morning, but this afternoon a spring shower has blown in. So it is a bit gloomy in my house.

I am glad the dresses are finished....whew. I did better on the second one, but I still broke another needle... However, I got them done and even a month before Easter!! (Quietly patting myself on the back for that one. Usually I am a week or two late getting things finished.)

Thank you to everyone that entered. I have had the flu and didn't respond to your comments but I appreciate all your comments. The winner of this months giveaway is Hilaches from Texas. She said her favorite color is turquoise. I have been in the mood lately for that very same color and aqua and teal and all those shades, aren't they just wonderful.

 I just finished quilting two quilts. Using Dr. Suess' "Oh the Places you will go". I started out making the bottom quilt for a new grandson and the quilt was way to big before I put the borders on, so having lots left over, I made a smaller one for the baby (the top quilt). The larger one is going to go to his big sister who just got a big girl bed so the baby could have the crib. So they both need a quilt right. Grandmas can do that, if they want. (I seem to remember that happened on the last baby quilt I made but on that one I took it apart and made it smaller, seemed a shame to undo all that work again) Well I have to confess that I didn't use a pattern, that will teach me, right!
