Canning Jars

Here are my canning jar blocks as promised yesterday.
My girls chose the scraps I used. I had to laugh, the fabrics pretty much match what I find them putting in my real canning jars at home. I find them filled with all kinds of dirt, flowers, and things they find outside.

Autumn Star

I am a little behind on my farm girl blocks. I had family in town for a visit so my project got put aside for the week. But I did manage to get the Autumn Star block sewn, and the canning jars blocks cut out. Here is a picture of the Autumn Star blocks.

You will have to stay tuned for the canning jar blocks. I plan to get back to sewing this week.

Don't forget to comment on the previous post about which blocks you liked of mine or blocks you like from the Farm Girl Vintage book for the giveaway that mom is having this month. She will be giving away a fat quarter bundle from Riley Blake of Lori Holt's Calico Days fabric line.

I originally was going to use the Calico Days fabric I have for these blocks, but I decided they were too pretty to cut into...my blocks have been made using up scraps. I plan on hording my Calico Days fabric a little longer before I decide how I want to use it. Less scraps...more stash...my version of spring cleaning!

March Craft month giveaway

Well it is here. March Craft Month

I think it is great to celebrate but I think every month is craft month for me especially if it involves buying more fabric. I got the best surprise in the mail today. My fabric from Island Batik, I guess that makes it official. I am now an Ambassador, yea. Oh the fun that will be had with all those little lovelies. I have been sewing a little. In case you hadn't seen my earlier post. I have these antique blocks I am putting together for my four daughters. I want each to be unique. I have two tops done and then I will have to decide how to quilt them. Any suggestions?

Here are pictures of 2 of my sunbonnet lady quilts. 2 more to go.

I am going to have a give away in honor of Craft month. It will be a fat quarter bundle of Calico Days from Riley Blake that Beverly has been using to make her Farm Girl blocks. Just leave a comment about one of her blocks that you like. She will be posting off and on till she gets enough blocks for 2 quilts for her girls. I am not sure when I will pick a winner but it will be some time this month.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

Farm Girl Vintage

This is a newer quilt book by Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet. It features 45 Farm Girl Sampler blocks in 6" and 12" block sizes. Also included are all of the patterns featured in her incredibly popular Quilty Barn Along from her blog, Bee in my Bonnet Co. The pictures are from Lori Holts Blog.

They are so cute and they would look great using Calico Days fabrics that are out right now. You can see Lori's new Bloom sew along on her blog using the Calico Days fabrics.

Strawberries and Pigs

I am excited to say, I am still on track with my farm girl quilt blocks. Here are the latest ones that I made this week.

I am pretty excited at how well they turned out. It has been a lot of fun busting out my scrap bucket and digging for colors. I doubt I will make any more strawberry blocks for a while though. Sewing 1.5 inch half square triangles and blocks together is kind of tedious.

My friend liked the pig blocks so much that I helped her make 9 pigs. She has a thing for pigs and wanted one for everyone in her family. I will have to ask her if I can post a picture of them after she makes her wall hanging.

Enjoy your week,

Bev

Farm girl blocks

I wanted to participate in Lori Holts' farm girl quilt along last year, and as always life got busy. So this year, I decided I was going to make a block or two a week. Hoping all goes well, I might be able to get a few quilts made for my girls who are super excited and have been picking out the colors for their quilt blocks. Here are the first few blocks:

Sorry for the bad lighting. It is a rainy gloomy day today and my table is in a corner.

I will try to post them as I get them done. That way you can all see my crazy awesome blocks, and I will have a little more motivation to keep sewing.
