Favorite Christmas Treat

My favorite Christmas treat is turtles and pecan rolls. My husbands sister sends us the turtles and his mother sends us 2 pecan rolls and I usually eat one of them by myself. Well I am lazy and so I don't make candy except fudge, I have a recipe that is so good, another one of my favorite treats. When I was a stay at home Mom occasionally I would make a small batch of fudge and eat the whole pan by myself before the school bus came.Just needed a chocolate fix but oh, not something that I can do now but it was good. Well I tasted these pretzel turtles and love them so I searched the web and found a recipe that I am going to share. Enjoy, eat all of them if you want but sharing is more fun.

Rolo Pretzel Turtles Recipe

Servings: depends Prep Time:2 minutes Cook Time:5 minutes

Ingredients:

Rolo chocolate candiesMini pretzelsNuts - toasted pecans/almonds/hazelnuts/walnuts

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 350
1. Upwrap your Rolos. Place pretzels on baking sheet. Top with a Rolo.
2. Bake in oven for 3-5 minutes, until the chocolate just begins to melt. The Rolo should be soft but not completely melted.
3. Remove from oven, place on cooling rack and immediately squish the chocolate with a nut. Watch the caramel oooze out.
IMPORTANT: Eat as many as you can while they are still warm. Go ahead, I give you permission to stuff yourselves with sugar. (http://steamykitchen.com/193-rolo-pretzel-turtles.html)

Girls and Giveaways go together!

Let me introduce you to my girls. The top picture is Christine with her little guy. The next picture is Melanie and Beverly standing up, and Jennifer sitting down. The sewing machine and cutting table were smoking at Thanksgiving and I was playing with grand kids. They told me if I put this picture on they were going to delete it but if they know what is good for them they will behave and leave it alone!!!!!!!!!!!
Jennifer is the oldest, she has a degree in food science and works for a potato factory in Idaho, is married to veterinarian and has 3 kids. Christine is next she has a degree in early childhood education and teaches preschool, is married to a pilot and has one kid. Melanie has a degree in economics,is a stay at home mom, is married to a farmer and has 3 kids. Beverly has a degree in chemical engineering, is a stay at home mom, married to a mechanical engineer and has four kids. So there you go. They are all talented and we are going to share those talents with you starting today.

We are going to make this blog and store a family affair. The Amazing Twister Tool

I'm a finisher-- maybe?? Log Cabin

I Love Log Cabins and have always wanted to make one/own one. So I decided to make one... Boy was it a lot of work!!!  Here it is. :) I used a fat quarter bundle-- plus some pink and blue.

Queen sized Quilt

Now it just needs to be quilted. I ended up with a Queen size and a lap quilt/twin quilt size. Not exactly what I had in mind, but still like it and my Husband was like when did you make this? Wow! when did you make this??? Wow! he was completely surprised... not sure how to take it..... better to not read into it.

Christmas Quilt Update

Well, I am going to put my two cents in....I am the youngest that made the Christmas quilt that mom posted yesterday. I just wanted to give credit to the pattern maker if anyone is interested in a quick nine patch that works up in a jiffy (so long as I am not sewing it.) My Christmas quilt was made using the 'Sweet Menagerie' Nine Patch pattern by Roslyn Mirrington on the Moda bakeshop. It uses 2 jellyrolls and 1/2 yard of coordinating fabric for the inner border. Here is the picture of their quilt....

 

I really liked their quilt and wanted to give it a go(wish I had their fabric too...beautiful...). I just happened to have "The Caroler" jellyroll by Mary Engelbriet made for Moda and about 1 1/2 yards of white fabric instead of two jellyrolls. So The picture in mom's post yesterday was the resulting creation. We added a few more borders to make it fit a queen, but I am pleased with it. It was a fun quilt to make. Then of course off to mom's it was shipped for quilting...mother's aren't they great.

Giveaway Winner

It is time to choose a winner for the advent calendar. It is so cute, I decided that when everyone is here at my house for Thanksgiving this week, when the guys go do their thing us women are going to make advent calendars and maybe a cute table runner or two. Between four of us we should be able to corral 8 kids (it could be worse all 21 could be here) and sew too, or at least that is the goal. Well back to the giveaway.

Well that is Judi of Wyoming (by the way Judi, I love the pictures of sunsets that you posted). I thought maybe I would choose the first person to comment or the last or the one with the best post but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Everyone had such wonderful things that they were thankful for I decided to go with the random number generator. Thank you for commenting.

Here are a couple of projects that I just finished quilting. The first one is a Christmas quilt that my youngest daughter made and the other one is a baby quilt using the little twister ruler, that my oldest daughter made.

I also got two of my panels stitched for the Over the River and Through the Woods quilt that I am working on. So Jennifer better get moving, I am on the third panel and I am planning on having it done before the end of the month.
