Four Seasons Blog Hop and Giveaway

Japanese Jigsaw twin size quilt

This is the quilt I made for the Island Batik January Four Seasons Blog Hop. The line I had to work with is Season's Shades. Lovely fabric and most of them would be awesome in an fabric landscape quilt or in a number of projects that you need background texture.

The pictures show the construction progress. I will say that it was a challenging quilt to make. I first had to arrange the 9" blocks then I had to cut them into quarters and keep them in the correct order. Then after they were sewn into blocks I had to cut the blocks into diamonds making sure to keep the order correct and making sure not to cut the diamond the wrong direction. The third picture shows the scraps after cutting and the fourth shows the pieces sewn together before the borders were added. I threw in a picture of it on the frame and then a picture of the completed project on a double bed.

I had a week off after Christmas and I think it took me 3 days to get the top together. I love the colors especially the border which has butterflies on it.

I will be giving away a kit to make the same pattern in a wall hanging size. It is the lights from this line that I didn't use for this project. I will include the pattern because I don't plan on making this quilt anytime soon. It was fun to make once because I like a challenge but not twice. So leave a comment and I will choose a winner at the end of this blog hop. Be sure to go to the Island Batik blog for their wonderful giveaway and all the other ambassadors are having fun giveaways.

Thanks for looking,
Jeanette

A Couple of finishes

The first one is one that my sister found in the attic of the home they purchased in Atlanta Texas. Not sure how old it is but it was all hand sewn. I probably didn't do it justice by quilting on my mid arm but done is better than perfect, right. The other one is from blocks that I have had in my cedar chest for ever. The lady's are about 75 years old and the Dresden's are about 50 years old.

One of the granddaughters, isnt she cute?

2018 Island Batik Ambassador

Great News

I was accepted again for the 3rd year in a row. What does this mean? I get to make awesome projects for the monthly challenges and give away prizes. Island Batik supplies me with the fabric and the challenge ideas and I supply the creativity. If you have enjoyed the projects that I have made the last 2 years then hang around and see what this next year will bring. I love working with their fabric and getting out of my comfort zone doing things I might not have thought to do. Here's a look at past boxes of fabric and some of the projects from last year. Hope to have a great year. Happy New Year to you.
Thank you for stopping by,
 Jeanette
PS Januarys blog hop is happening now. All month there will be projects and giveaways. Here is the link for the Island Batik rafflercopter

Quilters Digest had this free pattern for this gorgeous table topper it is often called Strata Star, Spinning Star and Card Tricks. My version  uses reindeer and snowflake fabric from Island Batik. I made mine for the Table Scrap Island Batik December Challenge.

I spent most of my time before Christmas making the Clematis Wristlet by Blue Calla Designs. I made 8 of them and they are so cute when they get finished. These two I used Island Batik fabric. You can get the Free Pattern from Blue Calla Design.
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and I wish you a Wonderful New Year to come.
