Labor Day GiveAway

Well we have been doing a little labor of our own. In the top photo you see the side view of the 5 foot flower bed that ran the width of our home. Sadly the home was sagging a little. In the bottom photo you see our home with no skirting or flower bed.

The resident handy man (hubby dear) with a teeny tiny bit of my help started digging out the flower bed next to the house. Mind you the bed was 5 feet by 28 feet and probably a couple of feet deep. He was using his handy shovel and wheel barrow because he didn't want to destroy my flower bed.

After a week, I says dear why don't you take the back hoe and dig it out. What about the flowers he asks. It was okay with me to just do it the quickest way. I can always plant more flowers. So this is what we have and a concrete foundation is going under the sides.

So for all of you hard working quilters out there, I am going to have a fat quarter give away. I have two fat quarter bundles with these seven fabrics in them. So a total of 14 fat quarters. Just leave a comment on what you are planning to do on Labor Day. For a second chance be a follower or become a new follower. I will pick a winner next weekend.

Also from Monday the 26 till Monday the 1st of September I will have a promotional 20% off your whole purchase, including sale items from my Inchworm store. It will automaticly be given when you check out, no codes or vouchers to have to remember.

City Quilters

I work for the City of Moses Lake, Washington,  and we have a little quilt group that meets once a month. We have all varying levels of experience. We pick a block to make and someone demos it and then one person takes all the blocks home and puts them together into a quilt. The city museum has them on display along with some items we made to raise a little money for supplies. We are donating the quilts to charity.

Above are some bags that we made to raise funds for supplies. You can also see some of the table toppers, pin cushions and coasters on the bench below.

Above are some of the quilts we have made, hanging on the wall. Below is a display with table runners and little pillows for sale.

More quilts hanging on the wall. We are thinking of donating them to the police department to put in their patrol vehicles so they have a quilt for a child that is in need because of domestic violence or car accident.

Jean ZigZag

It has been crazy busy over here with life and then I couldn't say no and spent the weekend working on a project for a friend at work. She needed two jean tops- lap size for this next weekend... what? She said she would tie them... all I needed to do was make the tops, and I didn't want to be the reason it was not done.... I stewed over them for a day or so... I couldn't just do squares-- so this is what I came up with... what do you think? It turned out to be pretty easy thanks to all of the tutorials on the web!!!

This one is for her Dad.... she is putting some kind of green minkee on the back....

I love this pink and white... its for her mother... with pink minkee on the back

I think her parents will love them-- or at least I hope they do. Now I need to finish the quilt for my friend at work who is retiring..... confession time... I should have worked on it last night-- I had about 2 hours (an hour more than normal) to work on it and what did I do?? I read a book instead.. I'm feeling a wee bit guilty this morning as I look at it on the ironing board-- I could've finished the applique last night... oh well, no time to cry over spilt milk now gotta go to work.
Have a fantastic day!!

A Finish and New Charm Packs

Our quilt group is displaying at the local museum some of our quilted items that we are going to donate to a local charity.  Plus we are selling some small items to raise a little money to buy supplies so we can continue to make charity quilts. This is one that I finished last week.
We each make a block and then some one takes them home and puts them together. Most of the group is beginner quilters so we try to pick something that will help learn a new technique.

I just got in 3 batik charm pack lines from Moda. On sale for $8. Actually all the precuts are on sale. So have a look, you may just find something you like. Just click on the store link on the side bar.
