Moda Sampler Block Shuffle

Starting today I am going to make available 3 free patterns from Moda downloadable each week. These will make a terrific sampler quilt. There will be 30 blocks all together. There will also be setting instructions provided at the end.

So visit my store website regularly where you will be able to find the block patterns.  Each set of block patterns will only be available for a few weeks so collecting the entire set will require you to visit the store website every week for approximately ten weeks. Even if you are not making the blocks each week, you can collect the patterns to make later.

Week 1 of December and the Sale is still on.

I had great plans and know better than to wait till December to do projects.

I came back from a visit to my mom in Louisiana a week before Thanksgiving with a cold, so I wasn't real productive. Then on Monday I started to feel sickly and by Wednesday I had a full case of the flu. So not feeling like sewing and Christmas is fast approaching. BOO HOO, I had such big plans. Well one of my daughters came over yesterday and spent time quilting her projects but when she was done she helped me with some of mine. And a bonus was I got to enjoy her two little ones. I would post pictures of the projects but that would run the surprise for everyone on our lists.

Here is some fabric, Atelier line from Moda, I just got in last week. I know it has been out for a few months but it is so pretty I thought I would share. These are the colors that I have in the store and I am having a 20% off sale for the whole month of December. If you order over $25 I will include free shipping for this coming week.
This is the view out my upstairs sewing room window. It was pretty frosty for a week there after the big wind storm.
This is one tree cut up on a sixteen foot trailer. My son helped his friend cut it after it fell during the big wind storm a couple of weeks ago. Now it sits in our pasture waiting for our son in law to come over with his portable saw mill and cut it up.

Winter IS here and we are having a great SALE!

I was hoping that winter would skip right by us but it is here. Between the wind storm that took out power for a lot of NE Washington, and the inversion with temps dropping well into the teens, and the fog/frost on everything, it leaves no doubt that winter is here and Christmas is around the corner.

Well I had to whine a little but that being said. I would like to let everyone know that I am having a 20% off  sale at InchwormFabrics.com till the end of December.

You should go and check out the precuts, they would make great Christmas gifts.
Because of the Brave fat quarter bundle at $50 with 20% off when checking out using the code Sale.
Red White and Free layer cake at $25 with 20% off when checking out using the code Sale.

Time Flies!!!

Time sure seems to be getting away from us... Seems like summer was just starting... and now we are coming up on Halloween and the kids have been in school for almost two full months. Mom (Jeanette) asked me to post some of my finished projects....I think time has gotten away from her too!! And her computer has been a bit of a pill lately, so the blog has been sadly neglected... So in the meantime you will get to listen to me share a few projects and things happening at Inchworm Fabrics until mom can get her computer to behave!!

Summer show and tell....here are a few quilt tops I finally got finished.

This is the family quilt that everyone made a block for this year...

My disappearing hourglass quilt... It was fun to make... I will probably make another one.

And a disappearing shoo fly. The blocks that I had extra I put on the side to make pillows out of.

And this little guy was a project I started quite awhile ago. But he got finally got finished too.

I hope everyone is getting a chance to finish up a few projects as well. And if you get a chance, hop on over to the store...mom has been getting in some new precuts. And there is still plenty of time to start a project or two to get done by Christmas.

Incredible Luck!!!!

The most unbelievable thing happened to me last week.

A friend of mine has been looking for a sewing machine for her daughter. Well there is  a surplus store at the University where I work and they had some Elna Club 500's. Every time I asked about buying one they had a reason they weren't selling them yet. Well they had a auction on Thursday. I had to be at a demo all day and couldn't go to the auction so I went in early and asked if I could place a bid on 1 sewing machine. They let me and I went to my demo. When I got back to the office late that afternoon there was a message on my answering machine that I had won the bid and to come by 3:00 to pay and pick up. This was at 4:30 and I thought rats, they won't sell it to me because I didn't get back to them. So I called and they said I could come in the next day after 10:00 and pay and pick up.... Oh and by the way you won all four, (four mind you) machines. All I could think was "are you kidding me". But no got all for the price I was willing to pay for one. My friend took 2 and  2 of my girls are going to take the other 2. Wow what a deal. I am still in shock.

On another note. I have been so distracted with moving (what other excuse do I have besides being lazzzzzzzzzy) that I have fabric that I haven't even added to the store but I did get some put on there the other day.  Talk about late and beyond, Wrens Friends I have had since December.

Barns of Northeast Washington

Can you picture these with a quilt block painted on them? I can. I included a pic of a church at the end.

Bags and Blocks

I finished a few projects, so mom asked me to post them. She is still moving, but I have heard "rumors" that she has almost got her new sewing room set up!! Maybe she will post a few pictures....

Here are the messenger bags I recently finished for my sister to take on the trek this year. I mostly followed the tutorial from Noodlehead for making a bag from cargo pants...but I did make a few changes..

I also finished sewing my block and my brother's block for our family quilt this year.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend with family and friends.

Mothers Day

This is a disclaimer......We are still moving stuff.....Life will get back to normal.......

I dont remember it being such an ordeal the last time we moved but my memory isn't what it used to be. I spent the day mowing grass and pulling weeds. My youngest daughter and her two little girls came last night and helped me work on my sewing room and my yard. It was a nice mothers day present. I bought myself 2 rose bushes. An old fashioned pink smelly one and a white one with dark pink edges also a smelly one.

For all the mothers out there.

I often go walking in meadows of clover,
and gather armfuls of blossoms of blue.
I gather the blossoms the whole meadow over,
Dear Mother, all flowers remind me of you.

O mother, I give you my love with each flower.
To give forth sweet fragrance a whole lifetime through.
For if I love blossoms and meadows and walking,
I learn how to love them dear mother from you.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY MOM, I LOVE YOU LOTS.

Still Moving

This is the new house in the middle of wheat country in eastern Washington. Built in 1899.  I just love the charm of a country home. We have been fixing and painting. I have been camping out for the last couple of months. Just got the internet but the phone still doesn't work. I was starting to feel like I had dropped off the grid. Still cant use the kitchen sink but at least the bathroom works (thank heaven for small blessings). We have been pulling up old linoleum and tearing off layers of wallpaper. Fixing stair and deck railings. Did I mention painting and more painting? Nothing perks up a place like a fresh coat of paint.

All the furniture is still at the old house and all the little stuff in boxes is here at the new one. All my fabric and my machines are boxed up waiting for their new home to be finished. Do you hear that noise.....I can hear them murmuring because it has been so long since they have had any attention.

The new job is great and the house will be awesome when we get done.

Another Star in the Summertime

I saw this star on pinterest and thought I would like to make it so I followed the link to Solistice Stars Series. (You can find a good tutorial there also.) This is what she had to say about the block. "This star is from Barbara Brackman’s book The Encyclopedia Of Pieced Quilt Patterns, page 347 and is attributed to Beth Gutcheon’s Perfect Patchwork Primer." I also found it in Jenny Beyers book "The Quilter's Album of Patchwork Patterns: 4050 Pieced Blocks for Quilters.

I used Island Batiks line In the Summertime aren't they just the prettiest fabric. I think I am becoming addicted to Batiks. To tell you the truth when they first started to become popular I wasn't sure whether I really liked them but now they are the second to the top of my favorites list, the first being oriental fabrics. Below you will find the cutting instructions and if you would like a tutorial click on the link above for Solistic Stars. It actually is a very easy block to do and turns out quite nice.
