Block Central

I am surfing the internet today and I was looking for block of the month quilts because I thought it would be fun to add a block of the month to the store site if I can figure out how to do it so that a free pattern could be down loaded and guess what I found..........? Block Central and it has this really cool block of the month not just for this year but for other years. Well to get back to what I found was 2010's block of the month Sentimental Journey which uses of all things Moda's Aster Manor line (which I have in the store) and I could have been making this each month since January. How fun would that have been? Now I am 8 months behind but it is a very pretty quilt and I may have to find the time to make it any way. If you want to see the quilt or the others you can click on the picture or this link http://www.blockcentral.com/bom2010-intro.shtml . Some very nice quilts and the instructions look fairly easy to understand. Have fun and enjoy. You will have to let me know what you like on their site. jj

Vancouver, Washington

I have been in Vancouver, WA on business this week and there is the most amazing park right across from the motel. I had to act like a tourist and take my camera and take pictures. The first day here the weather was beautiful but it has been raining off and on since then but I was able to get a few pictures during a break in the weather. The first picture is a home that has been turned into a theater, the second one is a picture of the base of the bell tower, it has water running down it and the salmon are swimming upstream (did you know that the Indians believed that the spirit of their ancestors were in the fish?). Then there is a statue of a pioneer woman and her children and then last but not least is the bell tower, all four side have water coming down the sides and fish swimming up stream. Very impressive. The flowers are gorgeous and the grounds of the park are beautiful.

September

September is here. The kids are back in school. The weather is getting cooler and the yard work and gardening is winding down. I love this time of year and the smell of fall. For Labor Day we went fishing on the Snake river but out of our whole crew only one person caught anything. I was hoping to catch a steel head or a salmon but no luck. I haven't caught anything all year, what a waste of a fishing license but then it may be because I don't go very often ;). I would rather be quilting and the boat only holds 4 and their is usually more people than spots in the boat. Boy do I have plenty of excuses.

Well so much for whining.

This is a perfect time to offer 10% off on your order for the whole month of September. We have added a few new items and are planning on adding a line each month. This month we will be getting Western fabric in, so check back next week to see what we have in the store.

Bows, hats, headbands and more

I was sitting in the car waiting to pick up my son (Jeanette's grandchild (favorite:))) from preschool and noticed one of the ladies had a website in her car window... just so happens I know her and thought hum wonder what she is selling... so I checked it out-- and she has some very cute hair bows, headbands, and hats... her daughter is in my sons class and she always has the cutest hair, so if you are interested in cute bows for your own kids, as a gift or for a grandchild check it out at www.thebowdaciousbabe.com

She has no idea I am posting this, but I thought they were cute.

Astor Manor Quilt

My friend Darlene used the Astor Manor line of fabric plus a few others for this quilt and it turned out so nice. She even quilted it on her longarm and did a very nice job. She has decided she would like to sell it, so if you are interested you can check the store site. Thanks

CANNING, CANNING, CANNING

Why is it called canning when they are in bottles? Humm... that is an interesting question does anyone know the answer?

I bought 3 boxes of pears a week ago and they have been to green to do. Well I came home from work today and my dear husband had done the ripe ones, so there was 14 jars sitting on the counter. He is planning on doing more tomorrow. I just love to see full jars of fruit and vegetables:especially if I don't have to do the work ;)

GETTING READY FOR THE HOLIDAYS

THE WINNER OF THIS GIVEAWAY IS CARINFROM Conceived without Regard to Reason or Reality..... Congrats Carin, I need your address.

Thanks to all of you who came by and left a comment.

Halloween is right around the corner, so with that event coming up, I would like to giveaway this pattern. Just leave a comment and on Saturday I will pick a winner.

I am too tired to say much else and with the pears staring at me needing to be canned, I get even more tired. Won't someone bottle the energy of one of my grandkids? I sure could use some.
