Jennifers Sedona Star

About a year ago Jennifer and I decided we were going to do this Sedona Star that had been a block of the month quilt on Alex Anderson's quilt show. I think it was the 2012 block of the month designed by Sarah Vedler. Well Jennifer has completed hers but I haven't. Here are a couple of pictures of Jennifers uncompleted top. I think she has done an awesome job. Two thumbs up from MOM.

Jam and Stars

So much to do and so little time to do it in. Here is one evenings blackberry and plum jam. I experimented and did a peach pineapple yesterday and it is so good, much better than just plan peach. Forgot to get a picture before I put them away. Along with 2 batches of bottled peaches.
Here is my family quilt block. I was chosen for this month and I am so excited, doing the dance. I did the aqua one above and my mother did the red one below.  I really like the way this block turns out. You can find a very good  tutorial here Anyone Can Quilt.

Unfinished Suprises!

I have been tackling a box of unfinished projects...and much to my surprise, I found a bag with this in it.....

Yes....that was all that was in the bag, a cut up fat quarter bundle with a little sheet of paper saying what sizes the blocks were and brief instructions. It has been enough years (at least six or more) that I couldn't remember what I was making.
So I decided "why not" and oh the surprise!!!! Ohio star blocks!! (I am a sucker for stars...and even though the picture is dark....I still love the colors!!)

I have eight of the blocks sewn and eight more to go. There is enough of the fat quarter bundle left that I think I can make some scrappy Irish chain blocks to put between the star blocks. And if I am really good, I might just be able to get a queen size quilt! I wonder what else is in that box...

New Cutting Table

My husband made me a new sewing table. He had it finished in June but I needed to stain it and we had so much going on in July that I just barely got it done and set up in the house. I just love it, now instead of a conglomeration of bookcases and tables I have one nice table. Now I need something for my computer to sit on but I am not going to press my luck.

It is 3 bookcases with a top bolted together with an open side so I can slide my chair under when I am working on a project. I have a mat that fits the whole top. I am not sure that I like it so dark. Did I say how much I love, love, it?
