Minkee, Minkey, Cuddle, soft satin, etc....

So what do we mean by Minkee--- well it seems to have a dozen different names, colors, styles, and composition.... So from now on we are going to call it cuddle fabric.

I was in JoAnn's today and it was priced at 11.99 to 15.99 for the basic colors (not much variety) and then I was in another store that it was priced from 15.99 to 25.99 per yard and they had a fabulous variety. The wholesaler we are looking at has a lot of styles, colors, types....they call cuddle with dots, embossed cuddle, daisy ring, double sided etc.

Someone asked- what do you do with it... make blankets that are fabulous for kids or big kids. I've seen blankets made with the cuddle fabric that are similar to fleece blankets, I've seen quilted ones, pieced ones, and just plain old two pieces put together and tied. I am actually making one right now for my daughter that has 6 different pieces. Kids love the soft fabric and I love the texture and the pretty designs. I might have to make myself one. I have also seen it used as backing on other fabulous quilts or used to make hats. My mother made a baby blanket that used cuddle, flannel, and satin-- great texture and very cute.
If people are interested we will try to get some and offer it at a reasonable price. Here are two pictures of some cuddle fabric.

Minkee

Call for all comments and suggestions. We are thinking about adding Minkee fabrics and was wondering if there was anybody out there that is interested. This isnt a commitment just a comment. We think we can offer for less than you can buy it at the store but want to make sure that there are people that wanted to buy. We would love it if you would leave a comment. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Block of the Month...Coming in May

Here is a sneak peak at the block of the month for May.

The fabric featured in this block is the Civil War line by Moda. With the exception of the cream fabric which is by Kona Bay.

Kits with fabric and Instructions will be made available soon.

NEW PATTERN

Christines crib quilt using the swanky honey bun and swanky turnover is finally done. She finished the top quite some time ago and it has been sitting on my sewing table waiting to get quilted. The wind was blowing to bad today to do yard work so I decided that there was no time like the present to get it finished. It turned out rather cute inspite of my quilting job. If you like it you can order the pattern and the fabric on the store site. We are working on making it available in pdf format.

We are done a month early with our financial reports at work and it is such a relief. But now what, work seems to drag after being so busy.I look so forward to the weekend. I think I am going to paint my front porch tomorrow. The weather has been nice, in the 70's which is really nice for April in central Washington. I bought a rose bush today, a pink one because it smelled so good. I am going to plant it close to the porch I am painting so I can smell it when I sit on the porch. I love spring time, have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine.

Ella's birthday present

My grandkids love pillowcases. Their dad says they know who's is who's and no one else can use theirs. His daughter turned 3 last week and she only has one special pillow case so I made her a new one so she wouldn't have to steal her brothers. I used some cute flannel out of my stash that I keep for making baby blankets.

Latest Project

I have been working on a wedding dress for the last two weeks and all I have left is the hem. It is knee length with the lace hanging down longer than the dress in the back. It was a fun dress to make and very simple. Looks very good on the young lady and she is happy with it. But now I can get back to my passion, quilting. I am working on the borders to Christine's swanky quilt and then I am going to quilt it. When I get finished I will post it for all to see.
