Japanese Jigsaw twin size quilt
This is the quilt I made for the Island Batik January Four Seasons Blog Hop. The line I had to work with is Season's Shades. Lovely fabric and most of them would be awesome in an fabric landscape quilt or in a number of projects that you need background texture. The pictures show the construction progress. I will say that it was a challenging quilt to make. I first had to arrange the 9" blocks then I had to cut them into quarters and keep them in the correct order. Then after they were sewn into blocks I had to cut the blocks into diamonds making sure to keep the order correct and making sure not to cut the diamond the wrong direction. The third picture shows the scraps after cutting and the fourth shows the pieces sewn together before the borders were added. I threw in a picture of it on the frame and then a picture of the completed project on a double bed.
I had a week off after Christmas and I think it took me 3 days to get the top together. I love the colors especially the border which has butterflies on it.
I will be giving away a kit to make the same pattern in a wall hanging size. It is the lights from this line that I didn't use for this project. I will include the pattern because I don't plan on making this quilt anytime soon. It was fun to make once because I like a challenge but not twice. So leave a comment and I will choose a winner at the end of this blog hop. Be sure to go to the Island Batik blog for their wonderful giveaway and all the other ambassadors are having fun giveaways.
Thanks for looking,
Jeanette
