Oh Baby, quilt and giveaway!!!!

This months Island Batik challenge is a baby quilt.

But first I would like to thank every one that entered the giveaway last month. The winner was Ida from "My sister made me do it". I enjoyed your comments on who your sewing companion was. I am like most of you, I sew by myself most of the time and I think I prefer it that way. I do talk to myself sometimes but hey it helps to talk a problem through even if there is no one there to answer.

I started the month out good, I had my project put together and just needed to quilt it and even had it loaded on the frame. Well all of you know how plans go....I was sick for a couple of weeks and didn't feel like doing anything and then I had company, my son and family from Oklahoma. So I finished the binding tonight and I am done. Now on to a wedding quilt and a couple of birthday quilts.

I used a tutorial from Missouri Star Quilt Company on half hexies and a layer cake called Sweet Nectar from Island Batik to make this cute little baby quilt. I had enough squares left over that my daughter was going to put them together with some teal squares to make a full size quilt. It was a super easy quilt.

I am going to give away a package of Island Batik 6in wide rolls (colors may not be exact). There is 2.8 yards in the package. Just leave a comment and let me know what projects you have lined out for the summer. You know Christmas is just around the corner and it will be here all to soon.
Stay cool and enjoy the nice weather. It sure beats the snow we had last winter.

  2. Congratulations to Ida. Those hexies are so pretty. My summer sewing has been bee blocks and some scrappy sewing - always fun!

  4. I have plans to use a bundle of Halloween fabric to make a table runner and mini wall hanging. I really need to get a head start or Halloween will be here before you know it! I also have some hexies that were given to me and I want to sew them together to make a table runner. Your hexie project looks great!

  9. I don't think you really want to know my extensive list of projects that I need to complete this summer. I'm in several exchanges, with several different groups, along with my family reunion quilt blocks, several other projects, and now, looking for ideas for a Peter Pan baby quilt, since we just found out that we will be first time grandparents next year. My list just keeps growing. At least I have 2 different sew-ins this week, that will take me away from the computer long enough to get some stitching done.

  12. I'm not one to plan a bunch of projects, but generally just work on whatever interests me. I also make gifts when I need them for birthdays and holidays. I think a scrap quilt with flying geese will be next on my list.

  13. I am working on a series of wall hangings. Fall, Patriotic, Halloween, an apple tree and Christmas. Some I have more than one in the works. All applique so am doing them kind of assembly line. Ready soon to start sewing the pieces down. Nice thing is I can get all my reds sewn down and then skip to the browns or greens. Don't have to change threads as often and I have quite a few finishes at the same time!

  14. I've been working on finishing some things. I don't know why that part is always so difficult! I have a queen size quilt that I just finished hand quilting and now need to bind and another kid sized quilt that I need to quilt. They're both for Christmas. I also want to make a table topper for my kitchen table. We'll see if I can fit that in.
