Jennifer has used this tool and made a couple of quilts. Well Missouri Star Quilt Co. has done an awesome video that is worth sharing. Enjoy.

I'm a finisher-- maybe?? Log Cabin

I Love Log Cabins and have always wanted to make one/own one. So I decided to make one... Boy was it a lot of work!!!  Here it is. :) I used a fat quarter bundle-- plus some pink and blue.

Queen sized Quilt

Now it just needs to be quilted. I ended up with a Queen size and a lap quilt/twin quilt size. Not exactly what I had in mind, but still like it and my Husband was like when did you make this? Wow! when did you make this??? Wow! he was completely surprised... not sure how to take it..... better to not read into it.

Christmas Quilt Update

Well, I am going to put my two cents in....I am the youngest that made the Christmas quilt that mom posted yesterday. I just wanted to give credit to the pattern maker if anyone is interested in a quick nine patch that works up in a jiffy (so long as I am not sewing it.) My Christmas quilt was made using the 'Sweet Menagerie' Nine Patch pattern by Roslyn Mirrington on the Moda bakeshop. It uses 2 jellyrolls and 1/2 yard of coordinating fabric for the inner border. Here is the picture of their quilt....

 

I really liked their quilt and wanted to give it a go(wish I had their fabric too...beautiful...). I just happened to have "The Caroler" jellyroll by Mary Engelbriet made for Moda and about 1 1/2 yards of white fabric instead of two jellyrolls. So The picture in mom's post yesterday was the resulting creation. We added a few more borders to make it fit a queen, but I am pleased with it. It was a fun quilt to make. Then of course off to mom's it was shipped for quilting...mother's aren't they great.

Giveaway Winner

It is time to choose a winner for the advent calendar. It is so cute, I decided that when everyone is here at my house for Thanksgiving this week, when the guys go do their thing us women are going to make advent calendars and maybe a cute table runner or two. Between four of us we should be able to corral 8 kids (it could be worse all 21 could be here) and sew too, or at least that is the goal. Well back to the giveaway.

Well that is Judi of Wyoming (by the way Judi, I love the pictures of sunsets that you posted). I thought maybe I would choose the first person to comment or the last or the one with the best post but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Everyone had such wonderful things that they were thankful for I decided to go with the random number generator. Thank you for commenting.

Here are a couple of projects that I just finished quilting. The first one is a Christmas quilt that my youngest daughter made and the other one is a baby quilt using the little twister ruler, that my oldest daughter made.

I also got two of my panels stitched for the Over the River and Through the Woods quilt that I am working on. So Jennifer better get moving, I am on the third panel and I am planning on having it done before the end of the month.

Animal Applique Baskets and Wall Hangings

These cute little animals are so much fun to make (okay I must tell the truth- they are fun, but I'd rather piece something). They are super cute. I'm working on a project for my Sister's kids for Christmas. These were featured in the Hancock's flier a month or so ago and are made out of fleece. It's a McCall's pattern.



So this is what I have done so far... I've bought the fleece (forgot pink- was not going back so I used a piece I had and now that I look at the pictures-- I really do not like- might be making a trip back) and canvas and I've cut out a couple baskets and here are the animals so far. I need to get to work as these will need to go in the mail or make the trek for Thanksgiving.

 

Yes, you are right I did not take the time to use interfacing.... caught me- but I figure the fleece is think enough why waste it? I did do the interfacing for the bag structure-- not that lazy....

Veterans Day Giveaway!!!!!!!!!

I just love it when I have a day of. I love this country and I am grateful for all the veterans and their sacrifices for our freedoms. I just hope we continue to deserve their service.

I have spent my day cleaning and sewing. I don't normally get that chance. It seems like I am to tired to do both when I come home and sewing trumps cleaning any day, specificly quilting.

These blocks were done by the city quilt group and I got them to put together. Hawaiian Fabrics with a green Hawaiian floral on the back. I started to quilt it yesterday and my machine bit the dust. It just started to go slower and slower until it just wouldn't go any more. I had just purchased a used janome to put on my quilt frame and it came last week so my husband was fixing it so I could put it on there in place of the other. I guess it was in the nick of time.

Advent Calendar

Jina shows how to make a very simple Holiday Advent Calendar that's part of the Alpine Wonderland Fabric Line by Sheri McCulley Studio.

Christmas is just around the corner and I have been looking for cute and quick. I thought this was the cutest easiest advent calendar that I have ever seen. So I bought a bolt of Alpine Wonderland panel for the calendar and a bolt of trees for the backing. I have added them to my store and if you like them as much as me, you can click here to buy a PANEL. You will need a yard of the panel and a yard of the back, batting and a little binding.

Lemon Cheesecake anyone???

 

I watched Cook's Country make this cheesecake a million times.... it was killing me so I naturally had to make one for myself.... oh, it is Divine... you need to try this recipe. Simply YUMMY!!! Mine does not look as good as theirs... but it was good!

 

 

 When I did the caramel apples someone mentioned the Carmel sheets so I went to the store and found them. WOW!!!! Can I say easy!!!

So if you want a caramel apple quick that is pretty good, you should try these. I ended-up using two pieces per apple because the apples were so darn huge.

I love food and this time of the year--- oh there are so many yummy things to eat.... I will have to double my running time.... oh, well what is sleep anyway when you can eat all of this great, fabulous, wonderful, delightful, healthy (right who am I kidding) foods.

Happy Halloween late!!!!- Lanterns

Just wanted to show you these great lanterns. The kids and I made for Halloween. They turned out supper cute and were relatively easy to make. We liked them. We got the pattern from Martha Stewart. (sorry forgot to rotate-- and it took a long time to load)

Race to the Finish---

I was going to put my pictures in Mom's post, but I did not see a good spot to put it. My Grandma's quilt is beautiful. She did hers in a dark navy blue thread and pieced it in different blue fabric. It was pretty. I chose to use a blue variegated thread..... I like and do not like. You kind of have to match up the colors when you get a new piece, adding a little challenge and in some spots it looks great and others.... well not so great. Oh, well. I am not going to start over... this will have to do. We are doing it for my Mother-in-law for Christmas if we get it done. Thus, my husband the closet cross stitcher (he claims it helps him practice for work-- we all know better! :)) is helping me get it done.

 

He is working on the top panel. I did the middle panel and now I'm working on the bottom panel. I would have to say (and he agrees) that the top panel is probably the hardest one.

I plan on telling my Mother-in-law that when she dies I get it back.

Over the River and Through the Woods by Crabapple Hill

 My mother in law did this quilt last year and I loved it so I decided I would do it this year. Jennifer also decided she was going to do it. So we are competing to see who will get theirs done first.(She has an unfair advantage, her husband is helping but I don't have kids to distract me either) She is suppose to put a picture of hers on here so you can choose who you want to root for.

 This is what I have done so far. I am almost done with the lettering and have part of one panel done. I took it to Oklahoma with me and was able to get alot of it while we traveled but I ran out of thread. Before I left I couldn't find the rest of my thread and I searched the house over looking for it. I have looked for it for the last week and finally found it last night. So I can finish. I haven't embriodered in yearssssss and I don't know what I was thinking. Hard to see it in the picture the green doesn't stand out well. I like green and I did it because I had lots of that color, probably would have shown up better in a darker shade.
