Modern Batik Challenge

This months challenge from Island Batik for us Ambassadors is a modern quilt. This gal is an old fashioned one and loves traditional patterns. What to do????? Trying to come up with something original that was modern was way out of my comfort zone so I went with the next best thing. Missouri Star Quilt tutorial....a jelly roll race using a strip set called City Culture 2. Wow that was a fun quilt to make. I put in a movie and went to town sewing 2 1/2 in strips together. I did put squares at the end of all the strips and love the design that I ended up with. Inchworm Fabrics had this awesome batik that went with the front as if it were designed for it.

  2. I'm pretty traditional myself, but, I've found a few modern style quilts that I've enjoyed making. Sometimes its fun to think outside the box.

  3. I love this design - we each have to find our own way. I, too, am just jumping into modern design!
