Getaway Blog Hop and Giveaway by Island Batik

Fabric line is 'O Deer' and I used Missouri Star's half hexie ruler. I had half a yard of 22 fabrics, 11 brown and 11 blue. The above picture shows the stack after I got done cutting and the left over fabric and the pictures below show the layout and then the trimmings.I put the rows on a diagonal and had a heck of a time squaring the quilt up. After I was done I think I figured out a better way to do it, maybe next time.
I added a light blue border and a minky bubble for the back and it ended up being a twin size quilt or a nice size throw. I got a little carried away when I was cutting and I have a stack of half hexies left over that I am thinking of making another quilt. Actually I was wondering if the hexies are like rabbits that keep multiplying because there is a awful lot left over.

The weather cooperated and I was able to get a picture of my quilt on the front porch. It is January in Washington even if it looks like April out there and feels like spring. Just wondering when mother nature is going to blast us.

Well, we cant have a blog hop without a giveaway. Leave a comment and I will pick a winner for a stash builder pack, 2.8 yards of Island Batik fabric, five rolls of 5 inch by WOF. This is my last post for Island Batik as I am no longer an ambassador and this stash builder is the last of my fabric that they were so kind to give me to play with (well of course except for the scraps I have left), so I want to share one last time. I hope you have enjoyed the blog hop and have lots of ideas and plans for the new year.
Have a great day.

  5. I really, really like your quilt, Jeannette! I did half-hexies for mine too, but never once did I consider a diagonal set. It added a unique perspective for sure. We will miss you as an Ambassador next year. I am happy to have "met" you this year, and will continue to watch your creative offerings.

  18. Half hexies make a super looking quilt in the way you've arranged them! Such a great idea! The light blue minky on the backing is the perfect, sweet touch for a cozy quilt. The winter blast has definitely hit the Midwest! We are expecting to break a record low from 1887!
